The greatest college basketball player I ever saw in person turned 60 today. Folks forget, but there is a reason Jordan asked him to speak when Jordan was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Greatest of all time in the ACC (and in argument for best all time, at least for position, in college).

Got to tell the tall red one 30 years ago to the day tomorrow (7/14/84) at Greek that DT was my fave all time.

David Thompson had about a 48 inch vertical jump and lit it up in the ABA, issues with cocaine i believe derailed his NBA career to an extent...prior to the high school kids coming out in the 90s, the ACC was where it was at for big time players...

Blow was a prob; bigger prob was being on blow and falling on stairs at Studio 54 and tweaking his knee. Hell of a way to go.

Great, great guy. Love him to death.
